Long,
open beach along Westward Beach Road
From Santa Monica: Follow Pacific Coast Hwy. north.
About one half of a mile passed Kanan Dune Road, and about one
half of a mile past the intersection of
Heathercliff Road. (pictured
above) At the bottom of the hill,
(beneath the arrow in the photo below) turn left onto Westward Beach Road.
Free parking along road for about 3/4 mile. At the end of Westward Beach Road there is a state beach parking lot
(cost $6) and another 3/4 mile of open beach area.
If you go into the state beach parking lot and go all the way to the south end, you can
access a very secluded beach area by climbing over the rocks. At
the south end of the state beach parking lot, you can also climb
along a foot path to several cliff top setting overlooking the
ocean. (See the above listing, "Point
Dume.") .

Pacific Coast highway from the corner of Heathercliff Road.
(pictured above) At the bottom of the
hill, (where the arrow is pointing) you'll find the junction of
Westward beach road. Westward Beach Road Takes you
south along the beach. (See the description in the
section above.)
